Summer is on the horizon and many people are beginning to search for jobs to make some money during the break. This article will mainly cover jobs that are available for those 16+ but also include a few opportunities for those at the age of 15 or 16. These jobs will be located mostly within the Northfield and Central Park area.
Most high schoolers find their first jobs after they turn 16, as the opportunities to work in different industries such as food increase, along with general company acceptance. One company hiring is Raising Cane’s which has become a pretty popular fast food spot, especially for Northfield students. Cane’s is located at 4517 Central Park Blvd among other locations, and likely this is the most convenient location for students at Northfield. You can learn more about their job opportunities here at their website. Another food company that is hiring 16+ year olds is Chili's, located near Northfield at 4637 Central Park Blvd. This bar & grill is a great place to find a job, and there are a decent number of positions at Chili’s depending on your interest and age (more information is available here at their website). One last job that will be listed in this article for only those 16 years or older is Andy’s Frozen Custard which has only recently opened. This is another food/dessert company and is located at 9111 East 40th Avenue, relatively close to the Northfield QuickTrip. Who doesn’t like the possibility of working with frozen custard? Just as the other companies, information on applying for a job at Andy’s can be found on their website, here. These are just a select few job opportunities that you can apply for this summer, but there are so many more, including working at places like the Central Park Rec Center, Smoothie King, Toca Soccer, most supermarkets, etc. To explore possible job opportunities, go to Indeed.com, where you can search “high school student jobs” or “job for (age #) high schooler”, and choose the city in which you wish to work (Ex: Denver). After you search, Indeed will present you with several job opportunities and their details.
For students 14 and 15 there are fewer job opportunities than for those 16+, however, it is not as hard as it may seem to find and apply for jobs at this age. A couple jobs available for those under 16 are can be found at Cattivella, an Italian restaurant located at 10195 E 29th Dr, and Chick-Fil-A, located at 3601 Quebec St. Both of these employers are within the Northfield and Central Park area. You can learn more about applying to work at Cattivella at their website, and Chick-Fil-A here. There are certainly other jobs available for students this age, however some of them aren’t in the Central Park and Northfield area. If you live closer to these opportunities or transportation is available you might consider applying.
Finally, for students who aren’t looking for a more relaxed chance to make a little extra money, there are many independent jobs that most everyone can do. These jobs include refereeing for different sports leagues that may not have a requirement for hours or games refereed in, but refs get paid on how many games they ref. Other small jobs could include just mowing lawns in your neighborhood and making money depending on the size of the lawn, or walking dogs. Whether it is in an organization, or company, or just on your own through personal connections, these jobs can make meaningful amounts of money for students. This is similar to babysitting which is often a personally organized job.
There are many different opportunities to make money this summer, and it is never too early to start looking for your job.
